Email and API Keys
ByRSVP provides several interfaces for accesing our services. Apart from the web interface, you can also use email and program API calls to send requests or instructions. Email and API interfaces are convenient when you want a program or system to send SMS or make other queries.
Email and API interfaces require the use of keys to access them. The keys serve as the credentials to authenticate accesses. Keys are associated with individual User Accounts, and they are issued and generated when access is granted to the respective User Accounts through the ACL panel of the Business Account.
The use of keys enables access to Business Accounts to be properly accounted and audited. ByRSVP provides paid services through Business Accounts, and these are sometimes shared or used by more than one individual. As a result, it may be useful to users that these accesses are tracked.
The use of userids and passwords are avoided in these interfaces. The keys are system generated random characters. Since these keys are often saved in address books, programs, systems or devices, a difficult to remember key is only a one-time configuration effort which doesn't have to be typed every time it is used. For the same reason that these keys are often saved in various places, it is important that they are distinct from an individual's User Account password.
